Dennis Cometti is one of the best known and most respected
sportscasters in Australia. He had a promising career as a footballer, playing for West Perth. But
his first love was radio, a career that took him to Melbourne in 1970 to
work at 3DB and play football for Footscray reserves. Injury forced him
to hang up his boots and he returned to Perth where, no longer being able to play, he begin commenting on sports. Over the years he
has worked at 6PR, the ABC, Channel 9 and Channel 7 covering everything from Test cricket with
the great Alan McGilvray to Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. AFL remained Dennis's focus and passion which has earned him
the reputation of being the most distinctive, eloquent and beloved
football commentators the game has ever known.
