Faber Academy writer snapped up by Faber
Faber has signed a two-book deal with a writer from the Faber Academy (UK).
Senior editor Angus Cargill signed UK and Commonwealth rights to Cal Moriarty's thriller The Killing of Bobbi Lomax, along with a second book, from Simon Trewin at WME.
The Killing of Bobbi Lomax follows a series of bombings in a sleepy US town and the investigation that follows, centred round a rare books dealer who could be a genius, or a devil. Faber plans to launch the novel in summer 2014.
Patti Miller has been awarded the NSW Community & Regional History Prize in the NSW Premier's History Awards for her memoir The Mind of a Thief. Patti is teaching a three month intensive course next year for writers, or intending writers, who want to concentrate on memoir or narrative non-fiction.
