Our Writing a Novel co-teacher in Melbourne, Carrie Tiffany, has won the inaugural Stella Prize for fiction and the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards for her second novel Mateship with Birds. The book has also been longlisted for the Women's Prize in the UK (formerly the Orange prize) and the 2013 Kibble Literary Award, and shortlisted for the 2013 Miles Franklin Award.
