About the Academy
Since launching its first course at Shakespeare & Co bookshop in Paris in 2008, Faber Academy has tutored more than 700 students in courses ranging from a one day workshop, The Art of Publication to a six month course, Writing a Novel.
To date, Faber Academy has given the opportunity for writers to benefit first-hand from authors such as Jeanette Winterson, Louise Doughty, Kazuo Ishiguro, Blake Morrison, Helen Dunmore, Margaret Atwood, Miriam Toews and Hanif Kureishi.
Faber Academy at Allen & Unwin launched in March 2011 with a six month selective course called Writing a Novel directed by acclaimed authors Kathryn Heyman and James Bradley, and True Stories: Writing Memoir and Narrative Non-Fiction with bestselling life-writing author Patti Miller. For the first time in Australia, these practical courses presented an opportunity for the development of a complete draft under expert guidance.
