WELCOME TO GIRLFRIEND FICTION
Rebecca Lim
Was born in Singapore and grew up in Melbourne. She worked as a commercial lawyer for way longer than was sensible before leaving to write full time. She's the author of the Whiffy Newton detective series, and a number of books for pre-schoolers. She spends the day thinking up new story ideas and fresh dialogue while trying to keep her two toddlers from bashing each other.
Embarassing high school moment?
'The one and only time I gave a solo piano recital at a school concert, my page-turner turned too early and I totally lost my place. Had to start the piece again about 500 times before I got my groove back. You could almost hear the audience rooting for me by the end. I still cringe when I think about it. Start and finish of my performing career in one night. Scratch that, in twelve excruciating minutes.'
Life at school
'Was fantastic fun. I had the best year level anyone could hope to go through school with, and I still keep in contact with a heap of friends from back then. It wasn’t always “jolly hockey sticks” (I was singularly crap at sport), but it was damn close. My favourite subjects were English and English Lit. Hands down.'
