Prizes

One first prize winner will receive

There are four runner-up prizes of a subscription to Girlfriend magazine;Girlfriend accessories including a lanyard, beach bag and cosmetic bag, and a library of books from Allen & Unwin.

Prizes will be awarded to the entries judged to be the most creative by Allen & Unwin. Entries will be judged and the winner contacted by email and phone by 20th March.

  1. Information on how to enter & prizes form part of these terms & conditions. Any entry not complying with these terms and conditions is invalid.
  2. Entry is open to subscribers to Borders Shortlist email and their family members (using the same email address), who are aged 13 years or over and are residents of Australia. Employees of Borders, Allen & Unwin, Girlfriend magazine and their associated companies and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
  3. To enter, send an email to teen@allenandunwin.com, describing in 50 words or less what you think makes an awesome story, and include your name and daytime phone number.
  4. Entry is open to one per household. Where more than one entry is received from the same email address, only the first received entry will be eligible.
  5. The Promotion commences 22nd February 2008 & closes 7th March 2008 (“Promotion Period”).
  6. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for tampering with the entry process,
  7. The promoter accepts no responsibility for entries not received due to technical problems.
  8. One winning entry will win the major prize. The major prize is a beauty pack from Girlfriend magazine valued at approximately $100.00; a Girlfriend merchandise pack valued at approximately $80.00 and including a one-year subscription to Girlfriend magazine, a lanyard, a beach bag, and a cosmetic bag; a library of books valued at approximately $114.00 and including 1 copy each of My Life and Other Catastrophes (Girlfriend Fiction 1), The Indigo Girls (Girlfriend Fiction 2), Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, Rose by Any Other Name, Cathy's Book, Pact of Wolves and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, and a pack of DVDs valued at approximately $120.00 and including 1 copy each of Batman Begins, Bend it Like Beckham, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, and A Cinderella Story.
  9. Runner up prizes will be awarded to the four entries judged to be the next most creative. Each runner up prize consists of a Girlfriend merchandise pack valued at approximately $80.00 and including a one-year subscription to Girlfriend magazine, a lanyard, a beach bag, and a cosmetic bag; and a library of books valued at approximately $114.00 and including 1 copy each of My Life and Other Catastrophes (Girlfriend Fiction 1), The Indigo Girls (Girlfriend Fiction 2), Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, Rose by Any Other Name, Cathy's Book, Pact of Wolves and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.
  10. Entries will be judged by 20th March 2008. Winners will be notified by email and telephone.
  11. Total prize pool is valued at approximately $1190.00.
  12. Prizes are not transferable & cannot be taken as cash, unless otherwise stipulated.
  13. Prize values are correct at 3rd February 2008 but no responsibility is accepted for any variation in the value of any prizes.
  14. The Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered, including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss, or for personal injury suffered or sustained during the course of accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  15. All entries become the property of the Promoter. All details will be held in accordance with the Allen & Unwin Privacy Policy which can be accessed by visiting www.allenandunwin.com .
  16. The contest will be judged by the promoter with the decision final and binding on every person who enters. No correspondence will be entered into. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.
  17. The winner should look to the manufacturer of products awarded as prizes for all warranties. However, these terms and conditions do not exclude or limit the application of any statutory provision (including a provision of the Trade Practices Act 1974) where to do so would contravene that statute or cause any part of these terms and conditions to be void.
  18. In the event that any prize item is unavailable despite the Promoter’s reasonable endeavours to procure within Australia, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a different prize item of equal or greater value.
  19. The winner agrees to the use of their name for publicity and promotional purposes, without compensation
  20. Prizes will only be delivered in Australia and winners should allow 28 days from prize draw for delivery of their prize.
